ABOUT US
Cape Verdean Women United (CVWU), Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Brockton, Massachusetts. Founded in 2016, CVWU exists to unite, educate, and empower individuals and families of all cultures through advocacy, education, and community-based programming.

CVWU is rooted in the belief that healthier, safer communities are built through collaboration, respect, and shared responsibility. Our work focuses on culturally responsive health and wellness education, violence prevention, youth engagement, and mental health awareness. We partner with trusted community organizations to deliver programs that are relevant, accessible, and grounded in the lived experiences of the people we serve.
As a community-based organization, CVWU encourages individuals and families to take an active role in shaping their communities through volunteerism, leadership development, and civic engagement. We strive to elevate community voices, particularly youth voices, and to create opportunities for participation, growth, and empowerment.

Our commitment extends beyond local impact. Through international outreach efforts, CVWU’s clinical volunteers have partnered with dentists and other providers to offer free care and health education to individuals and families in Cape Verde. Future global initiatives will focus on mental health awareness and the development of culturally appropriate tools and resources that support healing and resilience.
Guided by collaboration, optimism, respect, and empowerment, CVWU continues to grow as a trusted community anchor. Our work is driven by a long-term vision of thriving, connected communities supported by strong partnerships, sustainable infrastructure, and a shared commitment to equity and well-being.
