Stroke Public Awareness Workshops
In May, Cape Verdean Women United (CVWU), led by founder Tina Cardoso, partnered with Linda Lopes to host a stroke public awareness workshop at the Brockton Cape Verdean SDA Church. The workshop focused on educating the community about stroke prevention, recognizing critical warning signs, and responding effectively during a stroke emergency. Through culturally appropriate resources and engaging discussions, CVWU empowered attendees with vital knowledge to address this significant health issue, reinforcing their commitment to health and wellness in Brockton’s Cape Verdean community.
Dental Mission Fundraiser
In May, Cape Verdean Women United (CVWU) also hosted a dental mission fundraiser in Rhode Island, uniting the Cape Verdean community in collaboration with Santos Spencer and Deputadas Milionarias to raise funds for our final dental mission trip to Cape Verde. This initiative celebrated and honored the dedicated dentists, dental assistants, and students who will provide essential dental care across all nine inhabited islands, culminating in services on São Nicolau and Santo Antão in July. The event highlighted CVWU’s commitment to improving oral health and fostering community support for this impactful mission.
The State of Cabo Verdean Woman: An International Symposium
We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who attended our 2025 International Symposium: "The State of Cabo Verdean Women", and to Bridgewater State University and the Pedro Pires Institute for their invaluable support in making this event a success.
