Our Programs

Mental Health Awareness

Cape Verdean Women United collaborates with community partners to offer Mental Health Awareness and Educational Forums. With this initiative, our goal is to reduce stigma and bring resources and information, in various languages to those in need. With access to culturally appropriate information and resources, people are more likely to engage in services.

Violence Prevention Education

With our organization's mission always in mind, we strive to find new strategies for addressing the very important issue of violence prevention in the community.  The Raising a City of Champions (RaCC) program is designed and adapted just for that. Through the program, our team works with parents and children to tackle the problems of violence in our city and how to stay safe.

Community Support Program

The CSP Program is designed to provide individuals and families with resources necessary to lead productive lives, such as referrals to transitional assistance, housing support services, food banks, job training, mental health support, and educational forums.  Our multilingual program staff provides care coordination, and when possible, provides emergency financial assistance to households.

International Missions

At CVWU we extend our commitment to our mission to help those most in need in Cape Verde with our oral health mission trips. For the past several years, we have been able to help over 500 youth and families receive free oral health care services, food, and other basic needs through our overseas program.
